1. Start with Kahului’s actual geographic scope
The Census identifies Kahului as a CDP in Maui County. That distinction matters when a firm decides what “local” means. A page about an event in Kahului is not automatically a page about every community in Maui County, the entire state of Hawaii, or a metropolitan area. Conversely, a firm may serve clients beyond the CDP. Legal News should therefore be evaluated against the firm’s service territory and the locations that appear in the underlying story, not against a population number alone. Bosseo’s public Legal News page describes monitoring local and national legal-news sources for a state and matching stories to practice areas.
Recommended approach
Before booking a review, list the geographic areas the firm intentionally serves: Kahului, other Maui County communities, or a broader Hawaii territory. Ask how that scope would affect story selection, page language, calls to action, internal links, and reporting. Treat the Kahului population estimate as context for the place—not as a forecast of inquiries.
