Start with the geography your firm actually serves
Hilo is recorded by the U.S. Census Bureau as a census-designated place in Hawaii County. Its 2020–2024 ACS 5-year population estimate is 50,404, with a margin of error of 2,228. That figure describes the Hilo CDP population; it does not establish legal demand, search volume, competition, language preference, call volume or future case volume. For attribution, the important geographic question is narrower: which service areas, pages and channels generate inquiries from the people your firm is prepared to serve?
Recommended approach
Define the geographic scope before reviewing performance. Separate Hilo from Hawaii County and from any broader Hawaii service area in your records. Then decide which locations should appear as landing-page, intake or reporting dimensions. Do not treat the Hilo population estimate as a forecast. Use it only as context while you determine whether your tracking reflects the territory your firm actually serves.
