1. Start with Google’s actual eligibility rules
Google says Local Services screening varies by service category, country and whether a provider advertises directly or through an affiliate. Depending on the applicable requirements, checks may include business, owner or service-professional background checks, license checks, insurance checks and advanced verification. Google also states that Local Services Ads must comply with Google Ads policies and Local Services requirements. Those sources do not establish that a particular University law firm is eligible, verified or entitled to a Google Screened designation. Florida advertising questions also warrant review with the responsible attorney. The Florida Bar publishes advertising guidance, filing resources and checklists; that material should inform the firm’s review, rather than being replaced by marketing copy.
Recommended approach
Before discussing budget or expected lead volume, assemble the firm’s actual business, licensing and insurance information and check the current Google requirements for the intended category and location. Treat screening as a condition to verify, not as a promised outcome. Ask the responsible attorney to review proposed profile language and advertising decisions.
