1. Start with the firm’s actual bottleneck
Custom software is most defensible when a recurring process creates avoidable work or forces staff to maintain workarounds. Candidate problems can include a lead moving through several systems, a client repeatedly requesting status information, a referral process tracked in a spreadsheet, or an internal dashboard assembled manually. These are examples of problem categories, not claims about your firm. A useful discovery conversation should identify who performs the work, where information is re-entered, what decisions depend on it and what must remain under attorney or staff control.
Recommended approach
Bring one concrete sentence to the review: “Someone at our firm has to do this by hand.” Bosseo can then help determine whether custom software is appropriate, whether an existing product is sufficient, or whether the issue needs a process change rather than a new tool.
