Custom software is most useful when a recurring manual process is specific enough to describe and important enough to measure. Examples include moving intake information between systems, assigning follow-up ownership, collecting documents, tracking referrals or answering repeated status questions. The relevant evidence is inside your operation: steps, roles, handoffs, exceptions and the point at which work stalls. A local population estimate does not identify that bottleneck; your staff’s workflow does.
