1. Start with the right footprint for Marco Island
the Census record identifies Marco Island city as a municipality in Collier County. That distinction matters when a firm defines its service area. Marco Island, Collier County, the Naples metropolitan area, and Florida are not interchangeable targets. A page for Marco Island should not be treated as evidence that every nearby city or the entire county belongs in the same plan. Bosseo’s published product information says the engine can be scoped to the whole state or only selected counties. The practical decision is therefore whether the firm wants a Collier County footprint, a broader Florida footprint, or another clearly defined service area. The population estimate should be treated as context only. It does not establish local legal demand or expected performance.
Recommended approach
Ask Bosseo to show exactly which municipalities and counties would be included, how Marco Island would be represented, and which locations would be excluded. Do not approve a statewide scope merely because Marco Island has a recorded population, and do not use population as a substitute for a demand or competition assessment.
