1. Start with the geography your firm actually serves
The U.S. Census Bureau records Lakeland as a municipality in Polk County. Its 2020–2024 ACS 5-year population estimate is 119,961, with a margin of error of 72. That fact describes the city; it does not establish legal demand, search volume, competition, leads or revenue. It does, however, make geographic definitions important. A report that combines Lakeland, all of Polk County and unrelated Florida locations can make a source appear more or less valuable than it is for your intended service area. The dashboard’s geographic view should therefore be reviewed with clear cohort definitions. Bosseo’s published product information specifically describes separating Miami, Miami-Dade and neighboring city cohorts. For a Lakeland firm, ask Bosseo how the same reporting logic would be applied to Lakeland, Polk County and any other locations you intentionally serve, rather than assuming those fields are already configured.
Recommended approach
Before judging performance, approve a written geography list: Lakeland city, Polk County, and any additional service areas your firm deliberately includes. Keep those areas distinct from Florida-wide or other-city records. Treat the Census figure as location context, not as evidence of prospective-client demand.
