1. Start with the real service area: Fort Myers or Lee County
the Census record identifies Fort Myers as a municipality in Lee County and reports a 2020–2024 ACS 5-year population estimate of 95,051, with a margin of error of 61. That describes the city; it does not establish legal demand, search volume, competition or likely lead volume. It also does not mean that a campaign covering Lee County will perform like one limited to Fort Myers. Those are different geographic decisions. Google’s Local Services requirements and availability can depend on category and region, so a firm should not assume that every desired practice area or service zone is eligible.
Recommended approach
Decide whether the account should focus on Fort Myers, extend across Lee County, or use another service boundary permitted by Google for the firm’s category. Compare each proposed area with actual attorney capacity, consultation availability and the matters the firm intends to accept. Keep the geographic choice explicit rather than using the city’s population as a proxy for opportunity.
