1. Start with the workflow, not the feature list
Custom Software is intended for a specific operational problem: a process that repeatedly requires copying, checking, routing, updating or answering by hand. Bosseo’s Bosseo’s published product information describes possible builds such as client portals, intake tools, internal dashboards and referral-fee trackers. That does not mean every firm needs one of these tools. For a Doctor Phillips practice, the useful local context is limited but clear: the firm serves a community recorded in Orange County, and its actual service area may extend beyond the CDP. Geography should therefore be captured as a requirement in the firm’s workflow review, not treated as proof that a particular application is necessary.
Recommended approach
List the manual action that causes the most friction. Record who performs it, where the information first appears, where it must go next and what happens when nobody acts. If the problem cannot be stated in operational terms, do not define software yet.
