1. Start with the geography your intake team actually serves
the Census record identifies Destin as a municipality in Florida and records its county relationship as Okaloosa County. Its 2020–2024 ACS 5-year population estimate is 14,077, with a margin of error of 25. That is a description of Destin city, not a measurement of countywide demand, legal need, call volume, search activity, or likely case value. It also does not establish that every caller is located in Destin or that every Okaloosa County matter is appropriate for your firm. Intake Coach can support a consistent review of whether a call establishes the caller’s location and whether the matter falls within the firm’s stated service area. Your rubric should distinguish Destin city from Okaloosa County and from any broader Florida territory the firm elects to serve.
Recommended approach
Bring your service-area definitions to the review. Decide which geographic questions belong in every intake conversation, which locations require attorney review, and how staff should document a referral or decline when geography is outside the firm’s scope.
