1. Define the Newtown geography before you read the numbers
The Census record identifies Newtown town and relates it to the Western Connecticut Planning Region. Those are not interchangeable with Connecticut as a whole, a metropolitan area, or an individual household. A dashboard review should preserve that distinction. Ask whether a location label refers to a search target, a caller’s stated location, an address, a service area or another field. Do not treat a count connected to Newtown as proof that a resident needs legal help or that a particular practice area is growing.
Recommended approach
Bring your intended geographic definitions to the consultation. Decide which views should be separated: Newtown, the wider planning region, other Connecticut locations and any broader service area your firm elects to evaluate. Require each geographic field to have a written definition before using it in a budget or practice-area decision.
