1. Start with the right geographic boundary
Your service area should not be reduced to a population number. Parker is recorded as a town in Douglas County, Colorado, so a news page may need to distinguish among an incident in Parker, a development elsewhere in Douglas County, and a statewide Colorado change. Those are different geographic statements and may raise different legal questions. A page about a Colorado statute should not imply that it is Parker-specific. A page about a Parker event should not silently generalize its facts to every Colorado resident. Bosseo’s public Legal News description says pages are matched to a firm’s practice areas and state. That gives you a basis for discussing Colorado coverage, but your firm should decide when a story is sufficiently connected to Parker or Douglas County to warrant local framing.
Recommended approach
Create geographic rules before approving coverage. Decide whether your site should use Parker, Douglas County, Colorado, or another accurately stated location in a headline, introduction, call to action, or explanatory section. Ask to review how a page will separate confirmed facts from general legal information and how it will avoid suggesting that every Parker resident is affected.
