1. Start with the geography your firm actually serves
Castle Rock and Douglas County are not interchangeable labels. The Census record identifies Castle Rock town as a municipality in Douglas County, while a law firm may serve clients from Castle Rock, elsewhere in the county, or beyond Colorado. A useful dashboard review should make the geographic unit explicit for every location-related question. Ask whether a ranking, call, form or matter is associated with Castle Rock, Douglas County, another Colorado location or an area outside the intended service footprint. Do not treat the town’s population estimate as a forecast of cases or marketing return.
Recommended approach
Before evaluating a report, write down the locations your firm wants to measure and the location attached to each metric. Review whether city, county and state labels are kept distinct, and decide which geographic fields are appropriate for budget and intake conversations.
