1. Start with the workflow, not a feature list
A custom build should begin with the task your team repeats and the point where it breaks. Bosseo describes a plain-English approach: you explain the bottleneck, the team designs and builds around the firm, then ships and maintains the tool. Possible build categories on Bosseo’s public page include client status portals, intake tools, internal dashboards, document intake flows and referral tracking. Solvang’s population estimate is modest, but it does not tell you whether your firm has a worthwhile operational bottleneck. It does make disciplined scoping more important: define the service area and the internal process separately rather than treating local population as a software requirement.
Recommended approach
Bring one concrete process to the consultation. Write down who performs it, what information they receive, where they re-enter it, what decision follows and what a successful result would look like. Ask Bosseo to distinguish a custom build from a standard product or a process change.
