1. Define the geographic brief before selecting stories
Bosseo’s public Legal News description says its monitoring is matched to a firm’s practice areas and state. Your local brief should make the firm’s intended audience more precise than “California.” Statewide legal coverage may matter to a Shafter practice, but a story involving Shafter or Kern County can require a different explanation, call to action or disclaimer from one aimed at another California community. The Census record identifies Shafter as a municipality in Kern County; it does not establish that residents are searching for lawyers or that a particular news topic will generate inquiries.
Recommended approach
Ask Bosseo how the service would distinguish California-wide developments from coverage relevant to Shafter and Kern County. Agree on the counties, communities, highways, courts, agencies and practice areas that are in scope before reviewing pages. Treat any proposed topic list as a subject for approval, not proof of demand.
