1. Start with the geographic question, not a population claim
The Census record identifies Pomona as a municipality in Los Angeles County and reports a 2020–2024 ACS 5-year population estimate of 147,943. It does not say how many people search for a lawyer, which practice areas are active, or which locations produce signed matters. A dashboard should therefore keep geography precise. A Pomona city result is not automatically a Los Angeles County result, and a countywide service area is not the same thing as a city page. Ask how the firm would label calls, forms, rankings and matters associated with Pomona, other Los Angeles County communities, and any broader California coverage.
Recommended approach
Before evaluating a dashboard view, write down the geographic definitions the firm will use. Review whether a location field means the searcher’s location, the office’s location, the matter’s venue, or the page that generated the contact. Do not treat the Pomona population estimate as a forecast. Treat it as context for deciding which geographic labels need to be separated.
