1. Define the geography before you interpret a number
Jamul is a CDP in San Diego County, not a synonym for the county or for every nearby service area. A dashboard can become misleading if a Jamul target, a San Diego County target and a California target are treated as one result. The Census estimate establishes the place and county relationship, but it does not prove that residents are looking for legal services or that a particular practice area has available demand. During a review, ask how geography is represented in keyword targets, lead records, source attribution and matter reporting. Also ask whether a city label comes from the page, the caller, the form, a campaign setting or another field.
Recommended approach
Create a written geography definition for each report: Jamul, San Diego County, California, or another service area. Require the dashboard walkthrough to show how those labels remain separate. Do not use the Jamul population estimate as a forecast; use it only as context for deciding which geographic definitions need careful review.
