1. Set the geographic boundary before choosing coverage
Your firm may serve El Dorado Hills while also handling matters elsewhere in El Dorado County or California. Those are different geographic scopes. The Census record identifies El Dorado Hills as a CDP within El Dorado County; it does not show where prospective clients search, where a matter may arise, or where your firm accepts representation. Bosseo’s public Legal News description says stories are matched to a firm’s practice areas and state. That makes the first decision a coverage rule: should the service address California developments broadly, El Dorado County events, or both?
Recommended approach
Bring a written service-area definition to the consultation. Separate El Dorado Hills, El Dorado County and statewide California coverage. Ask how a story’s geographic relevance would be assessed before approval, and exclude places or subjects outside your actual practice.
