1. Set the geographic boundary before choosing stories
Bosseo’s public Legal News page describes monitoring local and national legal-news sources for a firm’s state and matching stories to practice areas. For a Culver City firm, that does not mean every story involving California is a Culver City story. A page may be relevant to people in Culver City, to clients elsewhere in Los Angeles County, or to a broader California audience. Those are different audiences and should not be blended casually. The Census identifies Culver City as a municipality in Los Angeles County, with an estimated population of 39,931 in the 2020–2024 ACS 5-year period. That is useful for confirming the place being served, but it cannot establish whether residents are searching for a particular legal topic.
Recommended approach
Ask Bosseo to show how it would distinguish Culver City, Los Angeles County, and California-wide coverage for your practice areas. Approve a local page only when the geographic connection is clear, and use a broader California explanation when the legal development truly applies statewide. Do not use population as a proxy for demand.
