Start with the geography your firm actually serves
The U.S. Census Bureau records August as a census-designated place in San Joaquin County, California. Its 2020–2024 ACS five-year population estimate is 8,825, with a margin of error of 1,700. That is geographic and population context only. It does not establish legal demand, search volume, competition, lead volume or revenue. A dashboard review should therefore distinguish August from San Joaquin County and from any wider service area your firm chooses to target. Ask whether a location field means the caller’s residence, the matter location, the selected service area or the page that generated the inquiry. Those are different measurements.
Recommended approach
Before evaluating results, write down the geographic fields you need: August, San Joaquin County, California, and any additional areas your firm intentionally serves. Decide which field should control reporting and which should remain descriptive. Do not treat the August population estimate as a forecast of cases or marketing return.
