Start with the firm’s actual bottleneck
Bosseo’s Custom Software page describes a process that begins with the firm explaining a problem in plain English. Examples on the page include repeated entry into multiple systems, client status questions and leads waiting in a shared inbox. Those examples are useful categories, not evidence that your firm has any of them. For an August practice, begin by documenting the work your team performs for matters connected to August and San Joaquin County, then compare it with the work generated by the rest of your service area. The Census records August as a census-designated place in San Joaquin County, with a 2020–2024 ACS five-year population estimate of 8,825 and a margin of error of 1,700. That is geographic context only; it does not show how many prospective clients contact your firm or which process deserves automation.
Recommended approach
Bring one recurring task to the consultation in specific terms: who performs it, what information they use, where they enter it, and where the process stops. Ask whether the problem is sufficiently defined for a custom tool or whether an existing product is adequate.
