Start with the bottleneck, not a feature list
The strongest custom-software candidate is a repeated task with a clear owner and a visible failure point. Bosseo’s public page gives examples such as a speed-to-lead tool, client status portal, referral tracker, document-intake flow and internal dashboard. Those examples are useful categories, not a recommendation that every Arcata firm needs them. Ask what your team does manually today. Is a person copying consultation details between systems? Are clients calling for information that staff already have? Does a referral record live in a spreadsheet that only one person understands? A small tool may be more appropriate than a broad replacement platform. Arcata’s status as a municipality in Humboldt County does not answer these questions; your firm’s process does.
Recommended approach
Bring one recurring annoyance to the consultation. Describe the people involved, the current sequence, the information handled and the point at which work stalls. Ask Bosseo to explain whether custom software is justified or whether an existing product is sufficient.
