1. Define the geographic brief before discussing news coverage
Your firm may serve Agoura Hills, the wider Los Angeles County area, California or another clearly defined territory. Those are not interchangeable audiences. The Census record identifies Agoura Hills city as a municipality in Los Angeles County and reports a 2020–2024 ACS 5-year population estimate of 19,721, with a margin of error of 39. That is useful for naming the place accurately, but it cannot tell you how many people search after a legal story, which practice areas are active, or whether a page will generate a consultation. Bosseo’s public Legal News description says stories are matched to a firm’s practice areas and state. Ask how that state-level monitoring would be narrowed in editorial language so that a page does not imply an Agoura Hills connection where none exists.
Recommended approach
Write a geographic policy before approving coverage. Specify when a page may name Agoura Hills, when it should discuss Los Angeles County, and when California is the correct scope. Review whether each proposed story has a genuine connection to the firm’s service area rather than using the city name as decoration.
