1. Set the geographic boundary before you discuss coverage
Lowell is a city in Benton County, Arkansas. Those are different geographic levels: a Lowell page is not automatically a Benton County page, and an Arkansas story is not automatically a Lowell story. Bosseo’s public Legal News description says its monitoring is matched to a firm’s practice areas and state. That supports a discussion about Arkansas coverage, but it does not establish that every story will be local to Lowell or that a local story will produce inquiries. Decide which geographic relationships are useful to your practice. A personal-injury firm might review Arkansas incidents that raise questions for people in its service area; another firm may want a narrower editorial boundary. Do not use Lowell’s population estimate as a substitute for that decision.
Recommended approach
Ask Bosseo to show how a proposed coverage boundary would distinguish Lowell, Benton County and Arkansas. Approve only stories that fit the people and locations your firm actually serves, and record the intended geography beside each published page.
