1. Start with Farmington and Washington County as separate targeting decisions
The Census identifies Farmington as a municipality in Washington County. That relationship helps define the first geographic question: should the firm seek inquiries from Farmington city, the wider county, or another service area the firm can actually serve? Population alone cannot answer that question. The Farmington estimate of 9,094 is useful for documenting the place, but it does not establish how many residents search for a lawyer, whether other firms advertise, or how many qualified inquiries an LSA profile could receive.
Recommended approach
Review each practice area against the firm’s real service boundary. Decide whether Farmington is the core location, whether Washington County should be included, and which inquiries would be outside the firm’s acceptable travel or service range. Keep geography tied to capacity: an area that produces inquiries is not useful if the firm cannot promptly and appropriately handle them.
