1. Start with Kodiak’s actual service area
Kodiak city is a municipality in Alaska, and the Census Bureau records its county relationship as Kodiak Island Borough. The 2020–2024 ACS five-year population estimate for Kodiak city is 5,447, with a margin of error of 18. That is geographic and population context only. It does not establish legal demand, search activity, competition, lead volume or revenue. A dashboard should therefore keep “Kodiak city,” “Kodiak Island Borough,” Alaska-wide coverage and any other service territory separate rather than presenting them as one market. The firm should also decide whether a location field describes where a person lives, where an incident occurred, where a matter is filed or where the firm is willing to serve.
Recommended approach
Before reviewing return, write down the geographic definitions that matter to the firm. Ask Bosseo how location information would be represented in the proposed reporting view, what is measured at city or borough level, and what remains outside the dashboard’s confirmed scope. Treat the Census population figure as eligibility context, not as a forecast.
