1. Set the geographic boundary before selecting stories
College is a census-designated place in Alaska, and its recorded county relationship is Fairbanks North Star Borough. That relationship matters when your firm reviews whether a story should be framed for College residents, the borough, Alaska generally, or another service area. These are not interchangeable audiences. A state law change may justify statewide coverage. A borough proceeding or local incident may require more careful geographic wording. A page about College should not silently claim relevance to every household in the borough, and a borough page should not be presented as evidence that every College resident is seeking counsel. Bosseo’s public Legal News description says stories are matched to a firm’s practice areas and state. It does not establish a particular College monitoring promise or a guaranteed local result.
Recommended approach
Create a geographic review rule for each practice area. Decide whether the firm will publish Alaska-wide explanations, Fairbanks North Star Borough coverage, College-specific context, or only stories with a clearly stated connection to the firm’s service area. Review the wording for geographic accuracy before approval.
