1. Define the Anchorage geography before reviewing results
Your firm may serve Anchorage municipality, nearby communities, Alaska more broadly, or a combination of locations. Those scopes are not interchangeable. The Census record identifies Anchorage as a municipality in Alaska and records its county relationship as Anchorage Municipality. It does not establish legal demand, competition, search behavior or marketing performance. Bosseo’s public description says the dashboard can show keyword rankings and city data, but a useful review still requires agreement about which locations count. Ask whether a report is intended to represent Anchorage municipality, another named place, statewide visibility, or a mixture. Also ask how a city label is assigned when a caller or form submission does not clearly identify location.
Recommended approach
Before comparing numbers, write down the geographic scope for each tracked service and decide which locations belong in management reporting. Treat Anchorage municipality as a defined geography, not as a proxy for all Alaska residents or every person your firm may serve.
