1. Start with your real unanswered-call pattern
The Sheffield population estimate is a boundary and eligibility fact, not a forecast. It cannot show how many people will call, how often they will call outside office hours or whether your current team needs additional coverage. Begin with your own phone records. Separate unanswered calls from voicemails, wrong numbers, current-client calls and potential-new-client calls. Also note whether calls arrive during lunch, evenings, weekends, holidays or periods when staff are already speaking with someone else. Bosseo’s public AI Answering page describes 24/7 coverage, including nights, weekends and holidays, and says the system can handle up to 20 simultaneous calls. Those are product capabilities to assess against your firm’s records, not evidence that Sheffield will produce a particular volume.
Recommended approach
Bring a representative period of call records to the consultation. Decide whether the problem is after-hours coverage, overflow, inconsistent intake, or simply unclear ownership of callbacks. Do not size the decision from population alone.
