1. Define what “Pelham” means in the report
Pelham city is a municipality in Shelby County, Alabama. A dashboard can become misleading when a firm treats the city, the county, a wider metropolitan area and the firm’s full service area as interchangeable. The Census population estimate identifies the municipality; it does not tell you how many people search for legal services, where callers live or whether a matter will be retained. Before reviewing a local performance view, decide whether “Pelham” means a city target, an address associated with a call, a service-area label, or a page and keyword target. Also decide whether Shelby County should appear separately. Those choices affect interpretation more than the presence of another chart.
Recommended approach
Ask Bosseo to show how geographic labels would be defined and displayed for your firm. Keep Pelham city and Shelby County distinct unless your firm deliberately chooses a combined reporting rule. Record the rule in plain language so a partner reviewing the dashboard knows what a city count does—and does not—represent.
