1. Define the geography before you interpret the numbers
Meridianville is a census-designated place in Madison County, Alabama. A report that says “Meridianville” should not silently combine the place with the county, a wider metropolitan area, or every household and individual in the surrounding market. The Census population estimate is useful context for documenting the place being discussed, but it cannot tell you how many people need legal help or how many will contact a firm. In a dashboard review, geography should therefore be a field you can identify and question. Ask whether a city label refers to a search target, a caller’s stated location, a page location, an office location or a matter location. Those are different measurements.
Recommended approach
Bring your firm’s intended service-area definitions to the consultation. Decide which geographic labels should appear beside rankings, leads, calls and matters, and require the dashboard review to distinguish Meridianville from Madison County and any broader Alabama coverage.
