During World War II, many young men were drafted to serve in the armed forces and women were hired in industrial jobs. This led to an increase in housing demand as families needed more space. In response, the government built new housing developments, such as the “Cool Heights” pre-fab homes and other public housing units.

In the 1950s and ‘60s, North Long Beach saw a significant population growth due to economic prosperity. Residents of North Long Beach were able to enjoy close proximity to exciting attractions like the Pike Amusement Park and the Queen Mary.

In the 1970s and ‘80s, many businesses migrated out of North Long Beach due to changing economic conditions. The decline of jobs resulted in a decrease in property values which led many residents to move away.
