About Diamond Bar
Diamond Bar is a city located in eastern Los Angeles County, California, United States. This city has an interesting history that dates back centuries ago. Diamond Bar’s name comes from its unique location at the intersection of the Diamond Bar Ranch and the Phillips Ranch. The former ranch was named after the diamond-shaped branding iron that was applied to the cattle. The land where Diamond Bar is now located was originally a part of the original Rancho San Jose granted by the King of Spain to Antonio Ygnacio Avila in 1810.
The area was later divided into several smaller ranches, including Diamond Bar Ranch. This ranch served as a haven for cowboys and cattle drivers traveling from Mexico to present-day Oregon and Washington. In the early 1900s, sheep ranchers began settling in the area and took advantage of the lush pastures and mild climate to raise their flocks.
In 1918, Frederick E. Lewis bought the Diamond Bar Ranch and began developing it as a community. He created a master plan that included schools, parks, homes, and businesses, following his vision of a self-sufficient town. Over time, more and more people settled in Diamond Bar, attracted by its rolling hills, scenic views, and proximity to both Los Angeles and Orange Counties.
Incorporated in 1989, Diamond Bar has grown into a vibrant community that offers residents plenty of opportunities for work, play, and relaxation. The city spans over 14 square miles and is home to around 56,000 people.
Diamond Bar is recognized for its high-quality schools, including several elementary schools, three middle schools, two high schools (Diamond Bar High School and Pomona Diamond Ranch High School) , and a private school named “Calvary Christian School”. In addition to education opportunities, Diamond Bar offers a wide range of recreational activities through its local parks like Heritage Park and Sycamore Canyon Park.
The city is also filled with various shopping centers. The Diamond Bar Town Center features a wide array of retail and dining options, with stores that include Target, Sam’s Club, Home Depot, and Trader Joe’s. The city also has several locally owned businesses like New Asia Market, La Michoacana Meat Market, and Inca’s Peruvian Cuisine.
Diamond Bar is a modern city that offers a high quality of life to its residents; the place combines the urban conveniences of Los Angeles and proximity to natural areas filled with hiking and biking trails. Its history is a vital part of its charm, and visitors can appreciate the significance of its ranching heritage established centuries ago. Whether you want to relax among nature or indulge in the excitement of city life, Diamond Bar is a place that offers something for everyone.
